SATURDAY, APRIL 23. .Before Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M.) j For using obscene language James frame was convicted and fined £3, in default twonty-ono days. Accused had created a "fcouc" in the Labour Bureau, abusing the officer in charge in particularly florid terms. Joseph Nidd and Thomas Ascher, •barged with wilful damage to a door and window, tho property of William Hargreaves, were each convicted and penalised. Tho two had been indulging in midnight larrikinism in Fredcrick street. Nidd was fined £5 and Ascher 50s, witnesses' expenses (345), the cost of damage done (27s 6d) to be divided equally between tho two. On Ascher's behalf Mr McGrath gave notice of appeal. Walter Pearson Jackson and Joseph Donnelly were convicted of behaving in a threatening manner in Customhouse quay on Friday evening, whereby a breach of tho peace was occasioned, and were each fined 40s, in default fourtoen days. Donnelly was further charged with using obscene language. He was convicted and fined £3, in default twentyone days. John Darroch, who was found drunk after midnight on Friday night in Cuba street, and in possession of a fur necklet which be offered to make tho constable a present of, was fined 5s for drunkenness and remanded till tho 25th on a charge- of stealing a necklet valued at 10s, tho property of flomo iierson unknown.

Olara Branigan, alias Doyle, was convicted of being an incorrigible rogue and wa3 sentenced to a year's imprisonment. Accused pleaded guilty. Mary Joyce, alias Buckley, convicted of using obscene language in Customhouse quay, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment.

For drunkenness one first offender was convicted and discharged, two were fined ss, and James Baxter, on a third conviction, was fined ss, in default forty-eight hours.
