ST. MARY'S GUILD
The report to be presented to the annual meeting of St. Mary's Guild, to be held at the Diocesan rooms, Muigrave street, on Wednesday, shows that the past year has in, some respects been ap eventful one in the history of St. Mary's Homo at Karori, owing to tho steady development of rescue work, and the provision of a healthy physical and moral atmosphere for girls and young women who are in need of sympathy, help, and encouragement. Considerable expenditure has been necessary in providing additional accommodation and other urgent needs at the home, and this expense lias naturally caused the ladies of th° guild some anxiety, as they have practically nothing in tho way of endowment to fall back upon; but numerous friends (old and new) have conic forward with generous assistance, and the' work Has been extended, and also placed on a sounder and more permanent footing. Help has been given by private individuals, schools, societies, and parishes, and the guild is especially thankful for_ the interest Which several country parishes oto showing in the institution. At the meetin" on Wednesday the Bishop of Wellington (Dr Wnllis) will preside, and the Rev. H. A. Kennedy, one of the forerunners of the coming Anglican General Mission, will give an address. Mr Kennedy has had great experience in England in work of a similar character to that being done by St. Mary's Guild, and he is sure to have much that is interesting find helpful to say. The guild is looking forward with hope and confidence to tho coming year, relying on the continued help of old friends and hoping to gain tho interest of many others in its work. The guild will be glad of tlie presence at the meeting o£ all who i sympathise with its efforts.
