CHURCH MEETINGS

. ST. MAST'S, KAEOEI. There was a good attendance of parishioners at the annual meeting held, in the Parochial llall on Thursdav evening. The report stated that the financial position of the church -was fairly satisfactory, although the total receipts had boon, slightly balow those of the previous year. There was a balance duo on pew rents and subscriptions of £3l IQs. The plans of the new church had been approved, and it bad been decided that tho material to be used should bo camerated concrete, with the external woodwork of the tower of jarrah. The amount at present available for the work was £1335, which it was hoped would enable the building to be begun in Noyem* ber next. The balance-sheet showed a credit of nearly £13,. and the various institutions associated with the church wore also in a healthy financial position, Tbe following officer® were elected: — Vicar’s churchwarden, Mr W. F. Newcombe; people's churchwarden, Mr E. Caldwell;, vestrymen, Msesrs H. Cook, .T. Eagle, N,! Sunley, J. \V. Henderson, H. Andrews, G. Henderson, and Shortt. A discussion took place upon the possibility of abolishing pow rents. The principle was heartily affirmed, and it was resolved to take further ctcps at a subsequent meeting, to be convened by tho 1 vicar. ST. LUKE'S. WAJIESTOWN. The annual meeting of St. lAike's, Wadestonvn, was attended by a good. number of parishioners. Tho vicar, Eev. T. G. Kay, stated that all tho furnishings of the church were now paid for. Tho following officers were elected: —Churchwardens, Messrs T. D. Bollott and 0. Holt; vestrymen, Messrs P. J. Halse, J. Goyder, J, ■W. Mitchell, J. Cooke, .A- Stuart, F. Brookes, and C. 'W, Palmer; auditor, Mr TV. E. Morris. It was decided that a special effort be made this year to have a -vicarage at Wadcstown.
