HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AIB BOARD. ESTIMATES FOE THE YEAR. Tho following estimates of receipts and expenditure for the financial year commencing April Ist, 1910, and ending March 31st, 3911, and a statement showing amounts in hand on April Ist, 1910 r v.-cre submitted by the finance committee to the mooting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board yesterday. MONEY IN HAND. The following were tho balances in hand on April Ist, 1910: Wellington District Hospital Board, general account, .£1974 13s lOd; imprest account. £32 31s sd; total, .£2007 5s 3d. Wellington Hospital trustees, general account, £2lll 19s sd; imprest account, A*2su; cardi in hand, £3O; total, <£2391 IDs od. ' . Wellington and Wairarapa Chan table Aid Board, general account, £787 14s Id; fixed deposit, £150: total, .£937 14s Id. Wellington Benevolent trustees, gen-/ oral account, .£5lO 7s 4d; fixed, deposit, £300; Total, £BIO 7s 4d. ■ Wellington and Wburarana Chan table Aid Board, recoveries to close the year • ending March 31st, 1910, £252 13s lid. Wellington District Hospital Board, amount advanced on account of Infectious Diseases Hospital, to be recovered from special levies outstanding, £2000; grand total, £B4OO. ESTIMATED EXPENDITURE.

Estimated not expenditure:—Hospitals, £32.850; charitable aid, £12,500; admi aistra.vion expenses, £IOOO. Amounts required to close accounts March 31st, 1910:—Wellington and Wairarapa Charitable Aid Board, £1670; \ Wellington Benevolent trustees, £160; Infectious Diseases Hospital, £900; estimated expenditure, £49,080; Less balances and assets April Ist, 1910, £8400; leaving total amount required: £10,680, In addition it was shown that tho special levy for the infectious diseases 1 hospital amounted to £13,000; while the amount to bo raised from local j bodies and Government under the now system was £27,680, making up the total of £-10,680. Tho total levy for 1909-10 fop hospital and charitable aid was £34,000, of which £4OOO was unexpended, the» amount being carried forward to the present year. Therefore last year's estimates wore only £30,000, being in excess of this year's estimates- to tho extent of £2320. REVENUE FOR HOSPITALS.

The estimated, amount of. recoveriesand revenue for hospitals was sot down as follows;—Wellington. General - Hospital. £7975; Otaki Hospital and Sairar torium, .£SOO. Estimated expenditure, <£25,153; ’Wellington Infectious Diseases Hospital, .£13,000; Otaki Hospital and Sanatorium, .£4750; hospital contingon*. cics, ’ .£272; Total, £43,175. From tho total expenditure the sum of .£IBSO was subtracted for the cost of maintenance of ''Victoria Home/’ transferred' now, to charitable aid, and .£8475 for recoveries and revenue, leaving a not amount? for hospital expenditure of <£33,850. The estimates of receipts and exjxaullture for the Wellington Hospital and Infectious Diseases Hospital were submitted by the old board of trustees. These were anoroved by that body last Tuesday, and. were • published in tho "Times” on the following day. - Tor the Otaki Hospital supplies for tho year were set down at £540 and wages at £72o* making a total of £1260* Tho sum of £IOO is placed on tho statement for additions and repail's. Otaki Sanatorium:—Supplier £1080; wages, £1080; additions and repairs, £100: general expenditure, £1130; total £4750. - * The receipts in patients' foes at fbo Otaki Hospital were estimated at £l5O, and at the Otaki Sanatorium at £350; wiulo the net amount required wus CHARITABLE AID. Charitable Aid—Estimated recoveries and revenue, £1700; gross estimated expenditure, £14,200; net amount of expenditure, £12,500. Th© estimated amounts required for tho various sub-districts were as followHutt Valley, - £500; Johnsonrille, £200;. Hutt county, £150;-Uoro-whe-n.ua, £350; total, £l2oo* Maintenance of Children—-Industrial echo-ole per Education Department (Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch* Burnham, Wcraroa, To Oranga), £3900; estimated recoveries,- £BOO. Orphanages (St. Joseph's, St, Mary's, St. Andrew's. Presbyterian), £600; estimated recoveries, £IOO. Gross expenditure ■on children, £4500; recoveries, £900; net expenditure, £3600. The administration expenses were ©eft down at £IOOO.

APPORTIONMENT AND SHBSTDXL The following statement ©bowing the estimated expenditure on account of "capital” and Nether expenditure” for the year ending March 31st, 1911, waa submitted; also a statement showing tbs apportionment on the contributory local authorities and tho amount of subsidy to bo claimed thereon in respect of ©anh’ expenditure.

Capital .expenditure for the yeaJt £15,900, lass receipts £13,000; balance, £2900; amount a pportioned amongst contributory local authorities, £14505; amount df subsidy -which will be claimed at £1 for £l, £1150; total, £2900, Other expenditure £42,155, less receipts £17,075, leaving a balance of £24,780. Local bodies will contribute £12,390 of i h-'B sum, while the £1 for £1 subsidy will furnish the remainder.

Xtecaipts: Hospital, -£13,974 4s Bd.; charitable aid, X 3700 las 4d, leaving a total net amount required of -640,680. Apportionment and subsidy—Local authorities, -£13,819; Government, £13,840; total, -627,630. Infectious diseases hospital—Duo from local authorities, £6500; duo from Government, -£6300; total, -613,000; grand total, -£10,680. All the estimates and financial state* merits were adopted.
