ANOTHER X-RAY VICTIM
Another name (says the "Daily Tol*» graph") lias to be added to the‘roll of X-ray victims. In consequence of th© ravages ol dermatitis, from which he has been suffering for several years* Air Frank S. Poppordene, medical electrician, of Wimpoio street ami Dexhill* on-bea, has hud to undergo amputation of the forearm just below the elbow. The operation was performed at tho Prince of Wales Hospital, Tottenham. Air Pcppcrdene was on© of the earliest pioneers of this brunch of science, spending n considerable sum of money on experiments. Jio has fought a prolonged battle with the disease, which first made its appearance in the fingers of ins left hand over ten years ago. It was not for two years that its malignant nature was fully realised. The had made rapid progress during tho past, live years, the whole hand becoming involved. The disease manifested, itself # in a constant inflammation and breaking of the *kin and underlying tissues, eventually reaching the bone. Cancerous growths followed on tho back of the hand, and to prevent the disease' further spreading amputation became necessary. The victim has been reduced lo :i very weak state of health.
