SPLENDID SHOOTING

PBES3 ASSOCIATION. CHRTSTCHTJE.CH, February 20. Splendid shooting was done by the members of the Lyttelton detachment of the E.N.Z.A., who, at the conclusion ctf itheir ten days’ camp, carried out their ■annual class firing at Fort Jervois on Thursday last. Tito series fired from the G-dnch B.L.H.P. cans were remarkable for accuracy and rapidity of shOotinK. The firing was done under the superintendence of Lieutenant Sandle, 0.C., and the .results are stated to Wave established* a reyOrd for New Zealand for the class of guns. In the first series she shots were fired fr*am the 6-inch ,gun. and five "hits” were scored, the average time per round •being 42 seconds. The standard_ time per round is <55 seconds, so that it will be seen that* the was done in exceptionally fast time. The results of the second series were even better. Six shots .were fired and all registered bits, while the average time per round was only 37 seconds, which is phenomenally fast and is a record for the Dominion.
