DEEP BREATHING
There are few girls who would not willingly sacrifice something to have a flme figure and a beautiful complexion, but many of them do not realise that one of the easiest ways to attain to these things is simply by getting , into the habit of breathing properly. Before the habit is formed, it will be neoeesary to practise breathing exercises daily, until correct deep breathing becomes quite easy and natural. There is only one sacrifice which a girl desiring to improve her figure by.practising the deep-breathing exercises must make, and that is to rise half ahi hour earlier each morning. She must wear ©omethinsr li*cht and. loose, so'■■", that »U her muscles may get full play. The most beneficial exercises are as follows i
First. Stand erect, with heels together and hands by the sides. Rise gradually on the toes, raising the artms over the head, whilst inhaling deeply but slowly. Hold the breath for a few seconds, then slowly exhale, lowering the arms and the heels. Second. Eaise the arms up at the sides until they are at right angles with the side of the bodv. inhaling all the time; then, still inhaling, swing the arms from this position; to the front, until they are at right angles to the front of the bodv. and the width of the shoulders apart. While exhaling, the arms should be brought back gradually to the first position. Third. Allow the arms to hang from the shoulder with the iocether, the thumbs interlaced in. front of the body. Then raise the arms directly overhead, at the same time filling the lungs to their utmost; capacity. Hold the arms overhead a minute, then slowly exhale while lowering them. .
