A number of buyers from the Manawatu, Wanganui, and Hawke's Bjy districts are at present in Masterton inquiring for suitable properties. The demand lor email farms is increasing every week, and surprise is expressed at tn» lethargy of the Government in me. matter of retaining at least one of the laige holdings, in the vicinity of Masfoiton for closer settlement purposes; It is statsd in connection with, one property the Government were inquiring into, that certain decidedly "interesting" information was placed into the Government's hands with' regard to' a nice, game in which commission was playing <t prominent part, and this largely accounted for the powers that be dropping the matter like a hot potato. And though the property was a suitable one it is certainly far better that it Bhould be passed over in the circumstances." The Masterton .
