DISPOSES OF SHAKES HE DID NOT POSSESS. FBZSS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, Fobuary 18. A young man, who gave the name «f Sydney Stevenson, has been arrested on a charge of obtaining money by the sale of mining shares whioh be did not possess. Representing himself to be John Burridge, of Nelson, ho sold to 8. White and Co. 500 May Queen shares, and received .£ll2 9s in cash. Representing himself as H. It. Duncan, of Nelson, he sold, through Messrs "Mowbray 1000 Watchman shares. Ho asked for a cash payment of £BO 0s 4d, but the brokers insisted on paying by •cheque, and, suspicion being aroused, payment was stopped. When arrested, accused had £6O m his possession. In Court to-day his solicitor stated he would plead guilty, and restitution would be made of the. money received by accused Prisoner was remanded, bail being fixed at two sureties of .£SO each.
