CADET RIFLE-SHOOTING

BELT AND GOLD MEDAL WINNER. FRESH ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, February 17. The Hon. G. Fowlds, Minister of Education, this afternoon presented to Bugler Morgan, of the Onehunga trict High School cadets, the championbelt and gold medal won by him aa best cadet rifle shot in the Dominion. After congratulating Bugler Morgan on his fine performance, Mr Fowlds went on to refer to the new features of cadet work in the public schools. The Government, he said, had recognised the importance of teaching the youth of the Dominion the use of the rifle, and to that end had encouraged the establishment of miniature ranges on or near school grounds. He hoped that before long all but the very small schools in the Dominion would have their own miniature ranges.
