A sensational incident occurred in tho Court of Quarter Sessions to-day during the trial of a man named David, against whom there are several convictions, including some in Now Zealand.

David was charged with theft, and when tho jury returned with a verdict of guilty ho suddenly exclaimed: " I am innocent! I die innocent!" Then drew a rovolvor and shot himself in tho side.

There was a great sensation among those in the Court.

Tho .TiidEe animadverted strongly upon the carelessness of the officials in not searching the man, whose wound is not believed to be serious.
