Air Keir Ifardie, Labour M.P., speaking at Mountain Ash, Glamorganshire, said Parliament would last at least two sessions. SPEAKER RE-ELECTED. The Right Hon, J. W. Lowther was re-elected Speaker of the House of Commons at the formal meeting held yesterday. The re-election was unanimous. It was moved l by Hie Right Hoin. T. Burt* tho Father of the House, and seconded; by the Right Hon. H, Chaplin. Laudatory speeches were made by tho Prime Alin later, Air H. H. Asquith, tho loader of 'the Unionists, Air A. J. Balfour, arad Air Arthur Hendenson ■(Labour).

Mr Lowther. who has represented ■ tho Penrith Division of Cumberland since 1886 has been Speaker since ISOS. He is a Conservative. lie first entered Parliament in 1833, and in 1891 was appointed Under-Secretary for Foreign Afijairs. From 1893 to 1905 1 ho was Chairman of Committee of Ways and Means and Deputy-Speaker of tho House of Commons. •
