ANGLICAN SYNOD
At yesterday's meeting of the Anglican Synod a committee report wns presented on the question of erecting a bishop's residence in Wellington. It -was: recommended that the Mulgrave fibreet residence (the site of which -was unsuitable) should be let and the income devoted to paying tne Tent on a more suitable building. It -was recommended that the Mulgrave street property lie not sold, as, with St. Paul's Church, it would provide an excellent site for the future cathedral of the diocese, greatly superior to the pTesentlv proposed site in Taranaki street. Land' in every way suitable for a See house in Hobson street, at present leased, would in the courjie of six years fall into - the hands of the trustees. A select committee reported favourably on the proposal to constitute Taranaki a
new diocese, and commended the scheme to the practical sympathy of the church people of the province,. and reported ogamst the present alteration of the boundaries. . Th« evening; sitting was devoted to a discussion on a Bill, introduced by liishop Wallis, for fch<i creation of a Maori, miision beard, a bishop, two clergymen, and two lavmen', .with power to add to their number, to constitute the board.
