The following money grants were notified by the Government:—Annual pnildLg gJant, .£3455; Eastern Hutt, -81260; Khandal&h, JB115; Brooklyn, JJSOO; Mwritai, .£350; Mangamahoe, residence, J 330- Terrace, half cost of additionail land; Hutt Main, infant room to be provitiod. j It was decided that plans be prepared and-tenders invited for new buildings, for which grants have been authorised, at the ■■ Muritai, Eastern Hutt, Khandallah, 'Brooklyn, and Main Hutt Schools. ' Applications for grants for oarrymg ou€ works at the following eohoola were declined, the hoard having no funds at ■present to devote to them: Northland, Wharau, Worser Bay, Island Bay, Kaitara, Petone, Pahiatua. Mr F. Venn, Makerua, offered three acres in exchange far the present unsuitable school site.—The offer was accepted. ■» The Government notified that in the. future it will not allow dual payments to be . made to pupils of the Training Colleges. Formerly in some districts—bnt not in Wellington—some students have been drawing their . usual allowances, together with payments for work "done bv them, in sohools.' These additional payments will not now be made. The board declined ~to purchase outbuildings erected at the-school residence, Belvedere, by the late teacher. The Corporation is to be asked to undertake the construction, of a stormwater drain at Newtown. An estimate i<' to be obtained for the work of removing noxious weeds at Pahiatua-
