FAREWELL TO LADY PLUNKET

One of the pleasures of a garden party mu«t, of course, be tho garden, and those guests who attended tne farewell given to her Excellency Lady i'lunket yesterday, thoroughly enjoyed the beaut}- of the spacious grounds surrounding Mrs Graces house in llawkestone street. Dainty afternoon tea was served in the dining-room, the decorations being most artistic. Crystal bowls of delicately tinted sweet pe<*s in pink shadesi were suspended from green and white lattice, and pink and green bebe ribbon tying posies of sweat peas and asparagus fern lent additional colour to tue table, being threaded in between the dishes of dainties. Access to the gardens was gained through the conservatory, b -ay with pot plants and delicate llowers. Strawberries and cream \vero'procurable in the fernery at the end of the garden; the lounges and softly cushioned chairs making a welcome resting place. The beautiml frocks of,the guests were shown to great advantage against the backgrounl of hnp old iinglish trees, and lorined a picture whicn will long be remembered.

A committeo of ladies, consisting of Mesdames Bell, Collins, H. I>. Ui-awtord, C. Crawford, Duncan, lan Duncan, Grace, C, Johnston, A. Pearce, ."Wallis, A. Williams, Xeivman, and Misses Coates, ami Harcourt, acted as hostesses.

Her Excellency wore a charming rrock of brtnvn shaded chiffon, with laco embellishments. Her. blue hat was trimmed with large pink-roses, and she-carried a posy bouquet of gloxinias and asparagus rem.

Mrs H. D. Bell wore a handsome cream frock trimmed with Oriental embroidery, and a. black hat with pink roses. Mrs Collins was in pale blue relieved with white lace, and wore a large nat. Mrs H. D. Crawford's black and white striped satin princess frock was trimmed with cotiuilles of black lace, and her black hat w-as trimmed with white

Mrs Duncan wore black figured chiffon over black silk, and a black bonnet with touches of gold. Mra lan .Duncan -vvore pale blue and ■whito striped silk frock and a large hat. Mrs Graoe wore black chiffon over white silk, and a black erin hat with touches-of pink. '• Mrs A. Pearce wore .a frock of vieus rose, relieved with cream lace. Mrs Newman's black silk rroojt was embroidered on the guimjje in gold, and her black hat had long bluepiumes. Mrs Wallis wore black and white taffetas. Mrs A. Williams wore a pale blue frock, a blue tulle ruffle, and a large black hat.

Miss Coates' amethyst coat and skirt were worn'with a hat en suite. Miss Harcourt was in white.

Her. Excellency stayed till .late in the afternoon to enable the numerous guests to bid her. good-bye. . Miss Prebble was responsible for the floral decorations, arid Miss Murray Supplied her Excellency's bouquet.
