RAILWAYMAN'S PLUCKY ACT
SAVES TRAIN FROM A SERIOUS DISASTER. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. MELBOURNE. January 27. A special inquiry is being held into the circumstances attending the runaway of a goods train between Lancefield and Sunbury. For some unexplained reason the brakes failed to act, and the train travelled on at the rate of sixty miles an hour. A departmental foreman who was travelling in a van pluekily climbed from a truck, put on the hand-brakes, and brought the train to a standstill.
