Beresford, senior M.P. for Portsmouth,- in a speech at Dartford, Kent, . said " that if the first-class cruiser Invincible had been, commissioned last March (when she -was supposed to be completed) she would never have been able to fire her. 12-inch guns if she -were threatened. The Invincible was ordered into dock and her'crew was transferred to another ship.
