HARBOUR BOARD
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual statutory meeting of tbo Wellington Harbour Board was held at norm yesterday. Mr T. M. Wilford, M.)’., presided, and there were also present Messrs J. G.. Harknoss, C. E, Danioll, M. Cohen, R. Fletcher, C. W. Jones, F. G. Bolton, J. W. McEwan, and the Hon. T. Iv. Macdonald. The chairman reported that the meeting was held in compliance with the Harbours Act to receive and adopt the annual accounts. These had been duly certified by the Controller and Auditor-General. The Sinking Fund Commissioners had presented a bal-ance-sheet to September 30th, 1909, duly audited, and a certificate of securities held by them signed by the Controller and Auditor-General. He proposed to ask tho board to consent to the fixing of the January meeting for next Thursday week, when the accounts could be discussed, also the general procedure to ho adopted for tho, coming year. The accounts had passed tho Government Audit Office, and no “ tag ” at all had been attached to them. “In these days,” he added, “ such a thing is worthy of note.” Ho moved: That tho balance-sheet, statement of assets and liabilities, and statement of contracts be now signed by the chairman as examined and allowed as required by the Harbours Act, 1908.
The resolution was carried unanimously, and the board agreed to the suggestion that a general discussion should take place on January 27th. The-annual reports of the secretary, engineer, and harbourmaster were laid on the table, and were ordered to be published.
