AUSTRALIA'S BISLEY TEAM

At the meeting of the counoil of the National Rifle Association of New South Wales reoentlv a letter was read from Major J. J. Paine. hon. secretary of the Commonwealth Council of Rifle Associations, stating that .E2OOO had been voted by the Commonwealth Government to defray the expense of sending a monwealth team to compete at Bisley this yeair. A team of twelve would ba selected, and would leave about the end of April or the beginning of May next. The team would be composed of three, men from New South Wales, an equal number from Victoria, two each from Queensland and South Australia, and one each from Tasmania and West Australia. The N.R.A. was requested therefore to forward the names of three men and two emergencies, by February 19th., After some discussion as to whether ■the selootion of the five men should be left in. tho hands of a single selector or not it was resolved that Mr Arthur Cutler, of Bathurst, bo selected, and that tho other four positions be competedfor, the first two men in the competition, to bo' the other selections, and the third and fourth the emergencies. The chairman (Mr E. J. Brown) iwas appointed to select thirty men . from throughout the State to compete at Randwick on February loth. 16th, and 17th, and each competitor will be: charged £1 as entrance ; fee. The' competition will be over six ranges, 300, 500. and COO vards in tile morning, and 700, 900, and" 1000 yards in the afternoon of the first and third days, while on the second day tho long ranges will be covered in the morning and the short in the after noon.. Each man will, have" a target to himself, so that the conditions will be equal to all. and will fire,two' sighters (not to count), and ten shots at each distance. No coaching will be allowed, and a time limit has been fixed for each distance, allowintr two minutes moro than in tho N.R.A. regulations.
