JUTE IN WOOL EVIL
An easy solution of the jute in wool problem is said to have been discovered by two Melbourne men, Messrs. H. G. Wells and \V. Andorson. Experiments conducted in Victoria have, it is declared, proved that the method referred to will overcome all difficulties. The process is one by which the wool pack is treated with a solution which is claimed not only to lay the fibre and leave a smooth surface, but also to permeato the whole pack, thus preventing any extraneous matter getting into the wool either from the surface of the pack or from raw edges of cuts made in show--ing and sampling bales. The great point about this new process is that it will enable tho ordinary packs to be used, and the cost of dipping them in solution should not be excessive. It is understood that a company will be formed to exploit tho new patent, but it is to be hoped that if tho pack is so desirable as has been represented, the price will be kept down to that of tho ordinary figure, or very little more. The essence of the whole matter of inducing growers to use any patent pack to' get over the jute in wool trouble is to keep down the price of tho article, for growers cannot be expected to pay fancy prices for packs.
