SHIFTS SWIMMING CLUB.
i A. general mooting of the Swifte Swimming Club was held in •Searlo's Rooms hist night, Mr B. J. Fleming occupying tho chair. Officers were elected as follow*? to :FUI vacancies:—Captain, Mr I'. Wilton; hnndicapper, .Ur I r . Wilton; delegate) to Wellington Centre, Mr A. Stevenson; committee, Messrs C. Yordham, 32. S. Tome. W, T. Wilton, and W. Skegg. The appointment of a secretary was loft to tin* committee. Several new members were elected. On behalf of tho club the chairman presented Mr Churchward with a clock and water-colour { u Now Brighton Beach") by tho late James M. Nairn. Mr Churchward was one of the founders .of tho club, and captain since its inception. His rosignatiou i* duo to his coming departure for Blenheim, where he is to start practice as a solicitor. The chairman and several members of various swimming clubs and of the centre paid tribute to Mr Churchward’s services to the club, and wished him sucee**?. During tho evening a short musical programme was submitted.
