MUSICAL EXAMINATIONS

TRINITY COLLEGE, LONDON. The first half-yearly theoretical examinations at the Wellington centre for this year were held on Juno Bth, under tho supervision of Mr A. J. Mackintosh's prize for highest marks in the Centre, to Florence L. Mewton, junior division, 96 marks. Mr A. J. WicVs prize to best senior candidate, to Mies E. N. Gaynor, 93 marks. Miss M. A. Gaynor's prize to best intermediate candidate, to Miss Maude Phillips. 95 marks. Dr A. K. Newman's prize to best junior division candidate, to Miss Florence Mewton, 96 marks. There were S 3 candidates entered for f his examination, of which 55 passed. 20 failed, and 8 were absent. This shows < j decrease in the work of-this year- as compared with that of 1906; in fnct.m a slightly better average.. The certifies tes, together with those for December, 1906. will be presented publicly, shortly after their arrival, if possible, during tho visit of the “practical” examiner, Mr Charles . Edwards, who will arrive in Wellington next week, and will remain till October Ist.
