At .111 orclimiry general meeting of tho members of tho Wellington district of tJie Australasian Institute of Murine Engineers yesterday it mis decided to confirm till) fnirchase of a valuable section at the corner of Ait ken and Jlulpravc streets, - Wellington, on which it is intended to oroct n three-storied building, suitable to the requirements of the Institute. In accordance with the rules governing the institute, a- ballot had already been taken empowering the executive to acquire tho property mentioned, which was purchased outright for .111230. Tho section measures 301 t frontage to IMulgrare street, with a depth to Aitken street: „f oislt. Tho position is in'proximity to the terminus of tho city section of the tramway service, and only eight minutes’ walk irom the IJueen’s "Wharf. it is considered eminently suitable for the purpose for which it is intended. The matter is now loft in the hands of I ho executive, to deal with the question of erecting a building which will bo replete with everything which will tend to the comfort of members, a large general meetingvoom, library, reading-room and billlurdroom for the uso of tho members. Tho building when complete will bo a credit to tho institute, and an ornament to tho city. It should meet a long-felt want among the olliccrcd sea-faring community.
