SLAUGHTERMEN’S TROUBLE
GISBORNE STRIKERS FINED. AN AUCKLAND REQUEST. TRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, April 8. The Arbitration Court’s decision in the Gisborne slaughtermen’s strike pro. coedings was given by tho Court in Auckland to-day. The Court found forty-six slaughtermen guilty of the offence of taking part in a strike, and fined them £5 each. Mr Justice Sim made no comment in giving the Court’s decision. A well-attended meeting of the Auckland Slaughtermen’s Union decided to ask tho Arbitration Court to. include New Plymouth in the .Auckland award, and passed a resolution expressing sympathy with the Australian slaughtermen who had been unjustly charged with promoting tho New Zealand -strike, and regretting the serious charge made against the Minister for Labour by tho Trades Conference; also expressing the opinion that both charges were the result of a misunder. standing. The -resolution pqncluded:— “W-o havo every confidence in the purity of the motives of tho Minister for Labour, and trust that nothing may transpire in future to mar the fraternal workings of follow tradesmen of Australia and the harmonious working of tho Department of Labour, to the mutual interests of all concerned.”
