Swettenham. late Governor of Jamaica, describee, his letter to Admiral Davis, of the United States Navy, as a private communication, written in a spirit of pleasantry as from one friend to another. Tho Homo Government peremptorily ordered him to apologise to Admiral Davis, and ho did so, and then resigned.
