Mr Charles Holloway’s Dramatic Company commenced a tour of New Zealand at Hi' Majesty's Theatre, Auckland, last Saturday evening with “The Two Little Vagabonds," which is being produced by special arrangement with Mr J. C. Williamson. As Dick, one of the ‘‘Vagabonds," Miss Beatrice Hol’oway is most happily placed, and os Wally, the consumptive urohiii whore ambition is i to be a blacksmith, Miss Sophie Lashmore, a clover young actress and a protegee of Mrs J. R. Wood (Essie Jonyns), gives a very excellent interpretation. The company includes Miss Alice Devrwyn, Miss Ida Gresham, Miss Ibra Marshall (described bv a Sydney paper as the most promising debntanto seen for a generation). Mr ,T. P. O’Neill. Air Vivian Edwards, Mr C. R. Stamford, Mr Frank Hawthorne, Mr Godfrey Cass, and a number of other popular a/rtrstes. Sir Henry Irving contemplates the pnsductidm of an Irish patriotic play. The piece in question is said to bo the late Frank Marshall's “Robert Era met," which -was written nearly a quarter of a century ago, but which Sir Henry could not produce while Ireland was in a disturbed state.
