VICE-REGAL ARRANGEMENTS.
THE CHAT HAWS TRIP ABANDONED. On account of tho outbreak of hostilities between Russia and Japan, his Excellency tho Governor lias abandoned his intention of visiting the Chatham Islands, on which trip, he, accompanied by Major Alexander (private secretary), Lord Northland 1 , tho Premier and a party wore to havo left this afternoon by tho Hinemoa. This decision is a natural ono, as it, would bo incompatible with tbo duties of his Excellency’s office to proceed eo far from tbo colony and beyond roach of tho oablo during such a crisis. Tho trip 'is, therefore, abandoned altogether., Lord Ranfurly was to have visited the II ost Coast of tho South Island duriu" tho trip, and that part of the itinerary will bo adhered to. Tho vico-regal party, accompanied by the Premier, will leav e for W ostland in the liincmoa early next week. They will bo absent from Wellington for a week or ten days.
