A new warship of 15,000 tons has been launched at Devonport. The annual Fire Brigades’ Conference has opened at Hokitika. The Premier was entertained at a banquet at Dunedin last night. No fresh cases of plague have been reported in Sydney since Friday. British Now Guinea has been placed under the administrative control of Australia. Some strong remarks concerning crime in the county were made at the Sligo Assizes. Giving evidence before a Parliamentary Committee, the Duke of Dev9nshire said it was impossible to stop betting.
