MINING NEWS.

The Rocklands Beach dredge obtained 3-0:5 15dwt amalgam for 120 hours. The Han Hau Crook drodgo resumed work last Tuesday; she will not wash up until to-day. The report of tho Wakamarina Golden Point Dredging Company, just to hand, shows that the dredge commenced active operations on the claim in September on rue late Imperial Dredging Company’s river claim, which was acquired and has now been amalgamated with the Golden Point claim, and is held under a new license at a reduced rental. The acquisition has been justified by results, tho dredge having been on gold from the timo of opening out. To tho 24th December. on which day the dredge was closed down for tho holidays, gold aggregating in value £548 8s Id had been won from the mine. Tho dredge has never been off gold, and tho returns, averaging 21oz per week, leave a handsome profit. Tho “wash” is easily treated, ami there is an absence of largo boulders. Occasional logs aro tho only difficulty met with. Tho directors of tho company are Messrs 11. D. Vavasour. Thomas Gregory, W. Jvennington, W. Pollard, R. IT. Smalo (all of Blenheim) and Mr A. J. Farmer (of Laory and Co., of this city). Tho .secretary is Mr Bright (late of Foil Bros, and Co.).
