LOCAL BODIES IN DISPUTE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) Thursday, 4.15 p.m. The marriage took place yesterday afternoon of Mr R. Bassett, son of an old Carterton resident, to Lottie, third daughter of Mr J, Ticehurst, of Matarawa. The Rev .1. J. Pendray performed the ceremony. Mr A. E. Spooner was returned unopposed to-day for the vacant seat on the Borough Council. There is a case of carlet fever at the south end of the town. For some time past there has been a dispute between the Borough Council and the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board is to the pavment of the Board’s share—some £6o—of the maintenance of The Boundary road. Last night at a special meeting of the Council it was resolved that unless the amount is paid by the 20th inst., proceedings for recovery will be taken in tfie Magistrate’s Court.
