JOHN G. W. AITKEN, Mayor of Wellington. Dated this 29th day of March, 1901. THE FEDERAL ELECTIONS. OUR Australian cousins are having a • very giddy time. Yesterday and to-day the elections for the Senate and House of Representatives of th'e Commonwealth ' Parliament are decided. Some of the candidates already know their rate, and there have been more blanks than prizes. There is plenty of excitement about an election, for the people] generally take sides and fire themselves with au enthusiasm which, though temporary, is very strong while 'it lasts.’ And .how earnestly everyone likes to seel his side win. Unfortunately for the po- 1 litical harrackers, there are only a limited number of seats to be filled, and conse-i quently there must be great disappointment to many. If, one cannot get a political prize in this colony, there is al-! ways the chance of a billet, but the people I here are never discouraged or depressed, for they know they have an excellent prize packet in Crease’s At Tara. This 'is a perfect table delicacy, and is made with extreme care from the finest selected fruits and crystal sugar. , You can’t go wrong with Crease’s Al Jam. All tins full weight. 170
