MARINE CASUALTIES.

LOSS OF A SCHOONER. NO HOPE OF THE CREW’S SAFETY. MELBOURNE, March 29. - There is little doubt that the schooner Louisa Lamont, which left for Launceston on Thursday has been wrecked. The police have reported finding at Cape We-olarnai, Phillip Island, opposite the entrance of the Western Port, a quantity of timber which formed a portion of the schooner’s cargo, and also of a shattered boat.

. There is evidence that she has gone to pieces, and there is hardly any probability of thd crew surviving. It' consisted of E. Francis, captain ; W. Reid, mate; H. M. Gregory, cook; and J. Billing and A. Fimiston, seamen. The schooner was insured for £6OO.
