WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION. PLAYER DISQUALIFIED FOB LIFE. The Management Committee met last night, Mr N. Galbraith in the chair. Mr F. L. Seager attended, and explained that ho had ordered a player of the Poneke Club off the field last Saturday for deliberately striking a member of the Old Boys’ team. The player in question said he had been provoked to commit the offence by the conduct of an Old Boys’ player. It vras decided that the player in question should be suspended until May 31st next year. Mr A. Campbell attended and stated the circumstances under whichhe ordered another player of the Pctono team off the field last Saturday for grave misconduct. It was decided that that player be disqualified for life, and warned off all grounds under the jurisdiction of the union. An amendment that the sentence be for three years was lost. It was decided to ask the Manawatu Union to play at Wellington on the loth or 29th, the latter date preferred. The Drapers’ Club wrote protesting against the decision of the "Wellington Union in regard to the appeal made by the Tradesmen Club in regard to disal lowing a try through the deficient knowledge of the referee, and asking that the question should be forwarded to the New Zealand Union.

It was decided to allow the Wellington College third fifteen to compete in the fourth-class competition, starting in tho second round, it being assumed that the College team had competed in the first round, and each of tho opposing teams had scored a win against it. Permission was granted to tho Pctonc Club to play a match against tho Greytown Juniors at Petono on 29th July, subject to the consent of the Pctono Borough Council. It was decided to inform the Wanganui and Marlborough Unions that the Wellington Union could not send a team to visit them this season. ASSOCIATION. The match City versus Tc Aro, which was played on NewtoWu Park, was void of any jiarticularly fine play, doubtless on account of the very heavy state of tho ground. The City men were scarcely up to their usual form, and were several times hard pressed by their opponents. Grigg, of the winning team, was in excellent form. A word of praise ought also to be given to Clarke, who proved himself a reliable man. For the losers, Fogety and Kelly played a good game, but their team was lamentably weak in the back division. Tho City team scored four goals against nil. Millington scored three, and Gibson the remaining one. A friendly match was played yesterday afternoon on Newtown Park between Newtown and Wairarapa Farmers’, and ended in n. win for Newtown by three goals to nil. For the winners, R. and J. Jepsen, and H. Power scored one noal each. Fulton, Cheshire, Watt and Jcpson Brothers played well; while for the losers, Wighton, Leslie, Adams and Atkinson played a good defensive game.

The result of the first round of the Wednesday competition is as follows: Petonc, five points; Tradesmen A, four points; Drapers, three points; and Tradesmen B, nil. ,Iu the match_.,Drapors v. Tradesmen B, played at the Athletic Park yesterday, the Drapers won by 12 points to nil. Tries were secured by Urwin, Stevauo, Parker, and Bridge. The state of the ground and ball was not conducive to good place-kick-ing, and there were no conversions. A draw was the result in the match Tradesmen A v. Petonc, played at Athletic Park yesterday. The game was evenly contested, and neither side scored.
