THE PALMERSTON DROWNING CASE.
Our Palmerston correspondent writes US follows The game-bag carried by the late George Richardson, who was drowned at Lancaster’s ford, has been recovered down near Awapuni, and dragging operations for the body are now being carried on in that part of the river. Tho young man Little, who was one of the survivors, has not yet recovered from the effects of his experiences on tho occasion. It is said that the river was five feet higher that morning than it was when Bowden and the two horses which he was driving were drowned at the same ford. They all knew they would have to swim for it. Going round so as to cross at the Fitzherbert bridge would only have been about a couple of miles further.
