CONCERT AT THE OPERA HOUSE.

There Was a crowded audienbe at thb Otioi'a House last night on the occasion of the concert on behalf of the Hawke’s Biy Floods Belief Fund. The programme was generally Interesting, but some of the items were not highly successful. The poJJiltat 1 Ballad 11 Kathleen MavourneeU ” was tastefully sang by Madame Roaaly Merz, who was encored. Madame Mert also sang “ Dear Bird ©f Winter.” Madame Cope gave two songs *»Arditi’a Stdrs Lovb the Night ” and a bravura air by Wekerlin. “Birds of Balmy Woodland,” Mr A. W; Watelon’s ‘.My Sweetheart When a ”fodnd great favour ttith the audieiice; rind two songs by Mr P. i, MoDondld, Sting with d penetrating, welltolled tenor voice Add blear ehunoiation, Won him encores in each case; Mr Mortimer was also recalled for a mandolin solo, 4 ln Old Madrid/* played with capital effect. Mias M. Johnston gave two songs with fair success. The songs contributed by Mr C. J. Ellison were given With good boss vdicO.bnt without enohgh animation. Mrs BUrfoot was absent. Two pieces by the Wellington Garrison Band, playdd in characteristically good style, completed the programme.
