NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION,
A meeting of tho committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held last night. The following gentlemen selected to pick tho New Zealand team to visit Australia : —Messrs W. G. Garrard (Canterbury), G. Fache (Wellington) and H. J. Coutts (Taranaki). . . _ . - Mr G. Dixon (Auckland) was appointed to act in conjunction with Messrs Coutts and Fache to select a North Island team, and Messrs D. K. Torrance (Otago) and R. Galbraith (Southland) were appointed to act with Mr Garrard to select a South Island team for the North v. South match. It was decided that the committe to select the New Zealand team should meet at Wei* lington. It was also resolved that the 20 men selected to represent New Zealand must take part in the North v. South Island match. . It was decided to leave the selection of the remainder of the team in the hands of the respective committees. It was resolved to obtain jerseys for the New Zealand team. It was also decided that the South Island team play in tho colours of the Otago Union, and tho North Island team in the colours of the Taranaki Union; players to provide their own jerseys.
At a meeting of the delegates to the Thirdclass Football Association last night, Mr R. H. Davenport in the chair, it was decided that the member who had been reported for alleged misconduct last Saturday be requested to attend the next meeting. Tho referee in the Red Cross-Excelsior match will also bo asked to attend the meeting to give his account of the undue interference with the gam© by spectators, some of whom were members of the Association.
The only Third-class Cup match for tomorrow is that of tho Red Cross v. Diamonds, in which Mr W. Kerr is to officiate as referee.
It has been, decided by the Fourth-class Association to cancel the matches which have bo far been played, and to recommence the competition to-morrow. At a meeting of the Referees’ Association, held yesterday, Mr Bnohanan was appointed to referee in the match Swifts v. Queen’s
Park, at Newtown Park, on Saturday next; Mr Wolfe to referee in the match Thistles v. Thorndon, at Petonc; Mr White to referee in the junior mutch Swifts v. Thorndon, at Karori; and Mr Forsyth to referee in the junior match Diamonds v. Queen’s Park, at Karori.
