MORRIS-TUBE SHOOTING.
The Canterbury Mounted Rifles have accepted the challenge of the Herotaunga Mounted Rifles to fire a Morris-tube match, ■which will ’. be fired simultaneously at Christchurch’ and Wellington about the end of August. The conditions are: —lo men a side, seven shots and two sighters each. ’ '
Another of the winter series of Morristube rifle matches was fired by the Horetaunga Mounted Rifles last night in tho Volunteer Drillshed between teams selected by Captain Johnston and Lieutenant Hyde. The match resulted after a keen contest -in ,a win for Lieutenant Hyde’s team by one point. The Scores, were as follow, the conditions being seven shots, and one sighter each : Captain Johnston’s team —Private W. Naughtou. SO; Private Marshall, 29; Corporal Grant, 26 j Captain Johnston, 23 ; Bugler, Sexton, 23 j Private T. W. Slinn, 22 j Sergeant Morley, 20: total, 173. Lieutenant - Hyde’s team Lieutenant I Hyde, 31; Corporal Hutson, 29; Private Lauchlan,.2S; Corporal Roid, 26 ' Private Moore, 24 j 'Private A. Smith, 23; Private , Ross, 13 : total, 174.
