WARD RECEPTION COMMITTEE.

A largely attended and enthusiastic meeting of tho Ward Reception Committee was held in Thomas’ Rooms last evening. Sir Walter Buller was unanimously elected chairman of tho general committee, and a number- of aub-oommittees were appointed to make preliniinary arrangements for giving effect to tho proposed complimentary demonstration on tho arrival of the Hon tho Colonial Treasurer next month. The programme decided on is tho presentation of a congratulatory address to tho Hon Mr Ward, to be followed by a public street procession and a banquet in the evening. The details will be considered at a meeting of tho committee to be hold on Saturday evening next at 8 o’clock. The names of the following gentlemen were added to the general committee, on the motion of the chairman : —Dr Cahill, and Messrs W. G. Ehind, James Coates, B. -M. Molinoaux, :C. P. Skerrott, R. A. Loughnan, Andrew Wylie, Edward Stafford and Harold Beauchamp, letters of apology wore read from several committeemen who were unable to attend.
