AUCKLAND v. SOUTH CANTERBURY.
By Telegraph,—Press Association. Auckland, August 4. The football match, Auckland v. South Canterbury, was played in Potter’s paddock to-day, in the presence of about 3000 persons. A few minutes after the kick-off Oliphaht crossed the line, and took tho kick and landed a fine goal. No further scoring took place during the first spell. Soon after the opening of tho second spell, pliphant, after a good run, scored, but no goal resulted. A 'similar piece of play by Murray resulted in a score ; no goal was kicked. From a fine piece of passing, Shallard scored for Canterbury, but the attempt at goal foiled, Shortly before time was called Kissling scored for Auckland, and Murray converted, the game thus ending: Auckland, 16; South Canterbury, 3.
The Marlborough representative team arrived hero early on Saturday by the Waihi. They left in the afternoon for Pahiatua, where they play tho Bush Districts team to-day. The match with the Wellington representative team has been postponed until the 16th inst.
