Mr Gladstone, replying to the invitation to visit America, says the operation on his eye is not yet complete, and he finds it impossible to pay the visit. ■ Mr Kingston, Premier of South Australia, wired to the Victorian Government that he had brought matters to a head in connection with the boundary dispute, by cancelling the proclamation issued in 1847 fixing the boundary two miles further west than-it is now Claimed to be. The Victorian Preipief replied jocosely that a declaration of war with South Australia jn these dull times would be interesting and 'entertaining. ■ The Cambridge Downs woolshed, Queensland, has been burned down. The damage is £12,000. The' shed was insured for £4300. The origin of the fire is unknown. Shearing was completed in the shed without any trouble. ' The free labourers captured at Wilcannia, New South Wales, ‘ have been released fay the police, who arrested 10 men found guarding them with clubs, A ; Washington message states that the deadlock over the Tariff Bill continues.
' A premium of 55 guineas is demanded for the insurance of the Miowera.
