Archbishop Redwood laid tha foundation atone of the new Roman Catholic Church in Manchester street North this afternoon in the presence of a very large The church is dedicated to St Mary. It will bo a wooden building, seating 1000 people. Considerable indignation is expressed in Lyttelton at the dismissal and disrating of railway employes. A deputation appointed last night waited on the traffic manager this morning, and were courteously received. He stated there was some misconception on the part of the men, as there was no intention to remove any of the staff. No order was issued to discharge any men employed. Some few changes had been made. The deputation thanked Mr Garston for their courteous reception, and he expressed a hope that any cause of complaint should in future be brought before him. Wanganui, April 20. Shares in the proposed Wanganui Freezing Company have been well taken np. It is expected that the Company will be floated very shortly. The case of Corrie v. Thompson, a claim for disputed properties, has occupied the Supreme Court for several days, and is not yet finished. ' '
