The disposal of snow by steam heat is suecessfully practiced in London, and as a much less outlay of money than is required to cart it from the streets. Pits are provided with steam-boilers at tho bottom ; into these pits the snow, is shovelled, and being rapidly melted runs into the sowers, ' Rome possesses, say the guide-books, 364 churches, and the guide-books seem to think it a pity that there is not one for every day in tho year. Another church is to be bdilt which is to be dedicated to tho great Irish saint and to be the church of the Irish people.
