The frozen meat by the steamers lonic and Aorangi is selling at 4-|d per pound. On examination the cargo of meat by the Orient steamer Liguria was found to be in good condition. The Liberal and Tory Press, commenting on the recent modifications by Russia of her proposals regarding the occupancy of the Zulflkar Pass, generally express their distrust of them. (bbdter’s telegrams.) London, August 19. Three per cent. Consols are unchanged at IOO^. The market rate of discount shows an advance of h and is now 1J per cent., or f below Bank rate. New Zealand Government securities show a general improvement. Pive per cent. 10-40 loan 5s higher, £lO5 15s ; 4J per cent. 1879-1904 loan £1 higher, £lO3 ; 4 per cent, inscribed stock 5s higher, £IOO ss. Produce quotations without variation. (Received August 21, 12.45 p.m.) Bombay, August 20. The soi-disant priest Father Kanovich, who was recently arrested as a Russian spy, has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. The authorities have not succeeded iu establishing his identity with the Communist Oliver Pain. London, August 20. The reports from the South of Europe show that the cholera epidemic is subsiding in a degree, the number of deaths being on the decrease. THE LATEST. (REUTER'S TELEGRAMS.) The regiment of Guards, which for some time past has been stationed at Limasol (Cyprus), has been ordered Home. Cairo, August 20. Three regiments of the Hue, now on duty in this country, have received instructions to return to England. Reports are to hand announcing that the rebels have occupied El Debbeh, near Old Dongola, and are now advancing upon New Dongola.
