MEETING OF CITY SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The adjourned meeting of the city school committees was held last night ; Mr. Woodward in the chair. The Yen. Archdeacon Stock gave some additional particulars relative to the St, Peter’s Penny Bank, and made some proposals to alter the rules of that bank so as to suit school committees. After some conversational discussion, it was resolved that it was advisable to introduce the system of penny banks in connection with the various schools in the educational district of Welling.on. The Chairman drew attention to the fact that the school hours were fixed by the Education Board, instead of by the committees, as provided by law. The question of the proper authority to give holidays was also discussed. It was also resolved that the joint school committees hold a meeting on the second Friday in each quarter, and that copies of the resolutions passed be sent to the various school committees, and that the chairman of the Thorndon school be requested to convene the quarterly meeting.
