The Westland Law Society passed resolutions last night:—(l) Placing on record appreciation of the eminent service rendered by Judge Ward during the last half-century, and on the eve of his retirement expressing a hope for his long life and good health; (2) congratulating the Hon M. L. Moss (M.L.C. of West Australia), a former member of the society, on the honour conferred by the Government of West Australia in offering him a judgeship in that State; (3) urging upon the Government the desirability of having the District Court rules of procedure and the scale of professional charges revised and amended, the same having been fi'amed a« far back as 1858.
