An alteration in the Workers’ Compensation for Accidents Act is to bo sought by Mr Guinness next session. According to the “Westport Times,” he intends to ask the Government to introduce an amendment in the direction of allowing a claimant who lias suffered accident to sue the insurance companies direct, and not the employers, who are the insurers. As the law stands, it allows insurance companies to defend actions in the employers’ names.
Such schools in the Wellington educational district as are required as poll-ing-places for the purposes of the licensing election on March 13th will observe a full holiday on that day.
