SWIMMING.

WELLINGTON CLUB’S ANNUAL CARNIVAL. The Wellington Amateur Swimming Club held its eleventh annual carnival at To Aro baths on Saturday afternoon under ideal weather conditions. There waa a record attendance, and the extra seating accommodation provided by the City Council was much apreciated. The events in all cases brought forth large fields. The 100yds Provincial Championship was won by B. C. Freybarg, while a keen struggle for second place between the Hegglun brothers resulted in E. T. Hegglun securing the place by a touch. The Duthi© Cup for schoolboys was competed for by teams representing five schools, and resulted in an easy win for Clyde quay, with the Thorndon Normal School second. The Neatest Header, an interesting event, was won by L. McCarthy (Palmerston North), C. Moore second. The winner gave an excellent display of fancy and trick diving. During an interval afternoon tea was handed round, and a comic exhibition was given by Messrs Logie, Thomas, Neven, and Loewe. The Engineers Band played during the afternoon. The water polo match, proved a yery interesting event, and after a well-contest-ed game, resulted in a win for the Swifts team by two goals to nil.
