Mr Hubert Colly ns, of Waikanae, on the eve of his departure from the .North to the Middle Island, was accorded a pleasant little ‘‘send off” at Goodwill’s Cafe yesterday afternoon by a number of his Wellington friends. He was presented with a very handsome souvenir. Mr Donald McLeod presided, and a little speech, congratulatory to the “parting guest,” was made by Mr Arthur Moeller, while the harmony of the occasion was enhanced by eongs (riven by Mr Harry Davies, Mr Collier, and several other gentlemen. The valedictory was quite impromptu. The Rev. Father Kennedy, D.D., principal of the Roman Catholic College at Meanee (Hawke’s Ray), has been elected a fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society.
