Waikanae, though very convenient for Wellington sportsmen, is perhaps not so popular a resort ns it deserves to be with devotees of the rod and gun. At the present time, we are informed, excellent trout-fishing is to he obtained in the streams in the neighbourhood. Last week one gentleman, as the result of a single day’s sport, landed thirtyeight fine trout, weighing from a pound to a pound and a hair each.. A Press Association telegram from Napier states that Mr Samuel Blythe, manager of the firm of Blythe and Co., drapem, and brother of the' late founder of the firm, died at Hastings sx the 3rd, as the result of injuries received through a fall some days ago. Iho deceased was well known in commercial circles throughout the colony.
