LOWER VALLEY JOCKEY CLUB. The annual meeting of members of the Lower Valley Jockey Club was held at Martinborough on Thursday last. About forty members were present. Mr J. Martin presided. Eight new members were elected. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers were elected aa follows:—President, Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.H.R.; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Martin, G. Pain, and W. J. Martin; treasurer, Mr H. Maekay; judge, Mr J. W. Card; time-keeper, Mr A. G. Pilmer; clerk of scales, Mr J. Jackson; honorary surgeons, Drs Bey, Palmer and Robinson; stewards, Messrs B. G. Harris, D. J. Usher, A. McDonald, H. O. Ramsden, 11. Morrison, T. Ingley, T. Kennedy, D. B. Garrick, J. W. Orbell, J. Orr, D. Cameron, and Allen Donald, Mr 11. Morrison was elected one of the trustees in placo of tho late Mr A. R. Hacfarlane. It was resolved that the next annual meeting be held at Martinborough. The incoming committee was empowered to expend up to .£BOO in stakes. The newlyelected stewards met after the general meeting, and re-elected Mr J. Martin, chairman for the year. It was decided to recommend Mr J. Russell for a trainer’s and jockey’s license. Mr George Morse was re-elected handicapper to the club. Mr E. G. Harris was elected starter, and Mr R. McAlister clerk of the course, both officials acting in an honorary capacity. The secretary was authorised to issue permits Tor the training track. Sub-com-mittees were appointed as follows.— Works and course, Messrs J. Martin, E. G. Harris, H. Maekay, J. Jackson, J. W. Orbell, H. O. Ramsden and T. Kennedy; programme, Messrs T. Ingley, J. Jackson, J. W. Card, H. Morrison, J. W. Orbell, and J. Martin. It was resolved that the ordinary meetings of stewards bo held on Saturdays. The next meeting will be held on September 17th, when the programme will be submitted for approval. Our Martinborough correspondent writes that the inealipg was one of the best yet held by the club.
